How to use
Upload one bug photo, then compare the result with the five closest visual matches.
Best photos
Crop close to one bug, keep it sharp, and avoid photos with multiple bugs or large background objects.
Check the result
IDs are not perfect. Use the top-5 images to confirm, and ask AI to overread uncertain results.
Click a reference image to enlarge.
Identification Limits
Bug IDs can be wrong, especially from blurry, distant, juvenile, damaged, or partial photos. Compare the result with the reference images and use AI overread only as a second opinion.
Health And Bite Concerns
Do not use this app to decide whether a bite, sting, allergic reaction, or possible tick exposure is safe. For urgent symptoms, contact local emergency services, poison control, or a clinician.
Better Photos
Crop close to one bug, keep the subject sharp, and avoid photos with multiple bugs when possible. Better photos usually improve the classifier and the AI review.
What The App Stores
During beta, TexasBugz stores uploaded images, prediction results, AI overread status, and simple usage counts so the app can show history, improve model quality, and limit paid AI features later.
AI Review
If you press the AI check button, the uploaded image and candidate labels may be sent to the configured AI provider for review. Do not upload photos containing sensitive personal information.
Accounts And Billing
Current access uses beta sign-in. The code now tracks usage counts, but billing and public user accounts are not enabled yet.
Beta Software
TexasBugz is provided as a beta identification aid. Results may be incomplete or inaccurate, and supported classes will change as the model improves.
Responsible Use
You are responsible for confirming important identifications with field guides, experts, or local extension resources. Do not rely on the app for emergency, medical, legal, or pesticide decisions.
Future Paid Features
AI overread and deeper species checks may become paid or credit-limited features. The current usage ledger is a foundation for that future system.
